Upcoming Workshops

Seed Starting and the Early Spring Garden

Friday, February 10th

In this first class of the year, we’ll be diving into the world of seeds and our early spring gardens. From selecting varieties and suppliers to germination and seedling care, we will cover it all. Included will be an overview of timing indoor starts for transplant in Northern Nevada. Starting seeds early indoors and following a regular rotation can lead to serious yields and maximize your chance for a perfect crop while we live in an area with a short growing season. Beat the summer heat and start early with appropriate crops!

Spring Cleaning in the Perennial Garedn

Friday, April 7th

In the next class of our Foothill Garden Education Series we will discuss how to care for the perennial plants in our gardens this spring. We’ve let the dead tops of perennials remain through winter to provide habitat and forage for insects and other critters, but now how do we know when to remove these, and what is the correct way to prune our plants to ensure abundant new growth? We will go over all of this in this class so you will leave feeling confident to properly care for your perennials!
